The links to the website don't seem to be working for me and when I just type in the URL it doesn't work either. It says "Page Not Found."
Yes, you definitely can do this. For the new blog, when you create the blog page, change the word "blog" to "disneyblog" in the name of the page as you have already done. Then in the page where you want the information displayed, use something like this:

[[module ListPages category="disneyblog" order="titleDesc" separate="false" limit="5" prependLine="||~ Date ||~ Title ||"]] || %%content{1}%% || %%linked_title%% || |||| %%content{2}%% || [[/module]]

Notice the category has been set to "disneyblog". This is the key to displaying the appropriate category of information (either blog, disneyblog, sched, annc, or whatever).

Forum category: Class / Web site
Forum thread: Having Multiple Blog Lists

This is more of a personal question to Professor Moore, so I apologize for posting on the main forum.

I am schedule to complete my Google industry update on the 15th of October. As it turns out, that week is the busiest week ever for me (5 interviews, 2 midterms, and a presentation). So, I would prefer to complete the industry update a week before, when I have time. Does this defeat the purpose of an industry update (doing it a week ahead of time)? Should I just move my name on the schedule page to a later date?

Thanks!
Bryan

Forum category: Class / Assignments
Forum thread: Industry Update Question

For our first term project update, are we supposed to create a separate page (other than our start page) to describe our topic? Or are we only supposed to describe our topic on our wiki start page? This may seem like a stupid question, but I just want to clarify the instructions. Thanks!

Forum category: Class / Assignments
Forum thread: Term Project Update for 9/29

Professor Moore,

Just wanted to let you know that I BELIEVE there is a minor error in the Search tool overlap data collection page. I believe the 7th column of data should read "o(5,20)" as opposed to "o(5,10)". This holds true in all the tables.

Thanks,
Bryan

Forum category: Class / Assignments
Forum thread: Search Tool Data Analysis Table Clarification

Those two things are very reasonable to discuss, especially the oneConnect. Part of what we want to get a feeling of is the range of activities that Google and Yahoo are involved in.

As for search-specific information, you could just look through Yahoo's search documentation and see if there's something there that you didn't know but find useful. If so, then share it with the class. If not, then forget about it.

Hope that helps.

Forum category: Class / Assignments
Forum thread: Search industry update content

For the Yahoo search industry update for Thursday, the two big news items that I found were about Open Hack Day and then the release of Yahoo! oneConnect for the iPhone. However, neither of these things specifically pertain to searching. Are they okay to use or do I need to have more search industry specific information? I couldn't find anything more relevant to that. If I do need to find other things, do you have any recommendations of where to look other than the sites on the blogroll?

Forum category: Class / Assignments
Forum thread: Search industry update content

Hi Everyone,

My name is Brian Hendricks and I am a BBA Junior studying Marketing and BIT. I am interested in sports, hiking, trying new foods, traveling, meditating, and collecting board games. When I am not in class, I am Microsoft's Student-Partner for Michigan, the Online Editor for the Monroe Street Journal, member of the Marketing and Toastmasters clubs, webmaster for Phi Chi Theta business fraternity, and a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon.

This summer I worked at a consulting firm in Virginia started by former Microsoft executives and is exclusively focused on strategy and execution services for Software-as-a-Service applications. The sales process of SaaS applications is "Search, Click, Try, Buy" - you can't try or buy an online application until you find it. Thus, understanding search and finding information is crucial to creating a successful SaaS application.

Despite my technology interests and backgrounds, I unfortunately am just like the millions of people who just fire up Google when they want to find something (or IMDB if its about movies/shows). I read news from the same 5-6 websites each day simply because I don't take the time to find information from other sources. Hopefully this class will automate that process and expand my news sources. More importantly, before you can find a piece of information to analyze/use in an assignment you have to find it - this class will help me find **relevant **information efficiently and quickly.

-Brian

Forum category: Class / Introductions
Forum thread: Hello...I am Brian Hendricks
